A Possible Cure for Unsightly Cellulite?
February 9, 2009
Findings from a new study published in the November/December 2008 issue of Aesthetic Surgery Journal suggest that a combination treatment using laser energy and fat transplantation shows promise in significantly improving cellulite. Cellulite is a common condition that gives the appearance of lumpiness and dimpling across the skin and is most prevalent in the thigh, hip, and buttock areas. Currently some treatments may provide temporary improvement in the dimpled appearance of cellulite, but to date there is no proven, permanent “cure” for cellulite. Read more
Divorce, Antidepressants, Or Weight Gain/Loss Can Add Years To Your Face
February 9, 2009
Your mother’s wrinkles — or lack there of, may not be the best predictor of how you’ll age. In fact, a new study claims just the opposite. The study, involving identical twins, suggests that despite genetic make-up, certain environmental factors can add years to a person’s perceived age. Results just published on the web-based version of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery(R), the official medical journal of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), reveal that factors like divorce or the use of antidepressants are the real culprits that can wreak havoc on one’s face. Doctors at Allure Medical Spa Are Getting the Results of a Tummy Tuck Without the Downtime
January 12, 2009
The New Combituck(TM) procedure brings the results of a tummy tuck without the downtime! The traditional tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, has been the only option for people who want to regain a flat stomach after weight fluctuations or child birth. A new procedure, called the Combituck(TM) solves the problem of the loose abdominal skin and fat layer, without the weeks off of work needed with the traditional tummy tuck.
The new Combituck(TM) procedure involves removing almost all of the abdominal fat with a modern liposuction procedure, followed by a “facelift” type skin lift to the lower abdomen.
With this procedure, the time off of work is 3-5 days vs. weeks with the older tummy tuck. Also the Combituck(TM) procedure results in much greater fat removal, because with a traditional tummy tuck, very little additional fat can be safely removed.
The Combituck(TM) procedure gives men and women the flat stomach they want without the downtime, no drains after surgery are needed, and there is very little discomfort.
Dr. Charles Mok, a cosmetic surgeon, stresses that “this is not an alternative to lifestyle changes if you are overweight. But for men and women who have a roll of fat or loose abdominal skin that doesn’t respond to diet and exercise, this is an extremely effective procedure, with minimal downtime, and the scar is hidden by your underwear or bathing suit.”
Angela C., the mother of two, living in Sterling Heights, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit says, “I was able to get most of the weight off after having children, and was happy with my body, except the sagging loose skin on my stomach. Angela had the Combituck(TM) procedure last year, “after surgery I feel great, and in 2 days, I am going to Mexico and plan on wearing a two piece swimsuit for the first time in my life!!”
“Since we started performing the Combituck(TM) procedure, our patients have been very pleased. They don’t need to take weeks off of work; they heal remarkably quickly with far fewer problems than a regular tummy tuck. I also like the fact that their upper stomach is much flatter with this procedure,” says Dr. Mok, of Allure Medical Spa in Shelby Township, Michigan. Dr. Mok credits Dr. Richard Schloemer of Troy, Alabama for introducing him to this procedure.

Less invasive plastic-surgery options may be beneficial
December 15, 2008
Given today’s busy lifestyle and hectic schedule, it is often difficult or impossible to arrange a week to recover from a procedure. This is part of the reason that less invasive options have become so popular over the last decade. In 2007, 4.6 million people had Botox injections, over 1 million had a hyaluronic acid filler, over 1 million had a chemical peel, and laser hair removal and microdermabrasion were each performed more than 1 million times each in 2007.
